Project
The $98-million Richard E. Jacobs Health and Surgery Center is a state-of-the-art facility providing primary care and more than 30 specialty services.
The 190,000-square-foot center includes a 24-hour emergency department with helipad, four operating suites, four procedural rooms, on-site pharmacy and laboratory, and full conference facilities. In addition to primary care, patients have access to specialty services including cardiology, orthopedics and imaging. The facility contains a large physical therapy area with two pools for aquatic therapy.
SERVICES
Richard E. Jacobs Health and Surgery Center provided Buric with the opportunity to expand Buric Global to include Building Information Modeling (BIM) project facilitation, concentrating on clash detection and 4D scheduling. Clash detection worked – resulting in the early detection and resolution of design and construction conflicts.
Using BIM technology to harvest quantities from models, Buric resource-loaded the schedule. Using 4D-scheduling graphics, Buric provided visualization of the project’s schedule status and critical areas.
This project incorporated the full use of Buric’s in-field BIM progress evaluation, wherein Buric’s experts use digital photography and BIM graphics to document actual construction progression and compare it with the CPM schedule – clearly showing the owner and contractors the status of each aspect of the project.
At the beginning of the project, Buric provided the team with complete timelines including a visual, three-dimensional image of planned activities for each day – an effort that gave rise to Buric’s proprietary, real-time electronic dashboard reporting modality.
The Richard E. Jacobs Health Center project experienced owner-selected changes which, when incorporated into the schedule, affected the planned end dates. Buric Global identified and quantified the amount of time needed to incorporate the changes before the project was 40 percent complete, accurately forecasting a revised opening date – a date that held. Thanks to Buric, the project team was made aware of this issue more than a year in advance, giving them time to make necessary business decisions.
