Cleveland Clinic Heart Center
  • Client: Cleveland Clinic
  • Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
  • Approximate Project Value: $163 million

Project

Hillcrest Hospital is a full-service, 496-bed hospital that serves the residents of Mayfield Heights and the surrounding communities of Lake, Geauga and Summit counties.

Accredited by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), Hillcrest has been named 11 times as one of the nation's 100 top hospitals in the consumer choice survey conducted by Thomson Reuters, a leading provider of information to the health-care industry.

Hillcrest has been named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals® in cardiac care; is certified as a Level II trauma center, chest pain center and a stroke center; and is accredited as a comprehensive cancer center. Other services include state-of-the-art inpatient and outpatient surgery, imaging, orthopedics, neurology and neurosurgery, pain management and digestive health.

In 2010, the hospital completed major expansion and renovation that included infrastructure and technology improvements. A new 180,000-square-foot, four-story tower with 72 private rooms was built; new surgical suites were added; the emergency department capacity was doubled; and a new neonatal intensive care unit was built.

The bed tower, emergency department and surgical services suites were completed early.

SERVICES

Buric was retained as the owner's scheduling representative. Buric's involvement included creating and maintaining a resource-loaded Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule that not only tracked construction efforts, but also helped Cleveland Clinic move mission-critical operations.

Armed with the CPM schedules, Buric's experts provided crucial analyses of labor productivity to determine the impact of implementing changes caused by unforeseen conditions during renovations.

Thanks to Buric's efforts, the Hillcrest expansion completed on budget and a month early of its anticipated 36-month timeline.
