Project
This project consisted of constructing a 900,000-square-foot regional medical center in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The nine-story facility features a heart center, cancer center, neurology department, women and children health departments, and an orthopedics center. Construction started in 2008 and completed in December 2011. The project was administered under a construction manager with multiple prime contractors.
SERVICES
Buric assisted Shambaugh & Son under its mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection prime contracts to evaluate impacts to its Building Information Modeling (BIM) design operations.
The BIM operations for this project were affected by late and incomplete design and a directive to abandon a priority sequence for preparing BIM models. All models were created simultaneously, resulting in extensive clashes that required a complete re-routing of systems. Significant rework to the BIM models was provided in an accelerated manner.
