As only the 12th free-standing cancer hospital in the nation, the Siedman Cancer Center on the Case Western Reserve/University Hospital main campus opened in 2011.
The 375,000-square-foot Seidman Cancer Center offers patients convenient access to diagnostic services, inpatient and outpatient treatment, and surgical services, and houses research facilities devoted entirely to cancer. Tripling University Hospitals' previous patient capacity, the Siedman Cancer Center has 120 beds with the capacity for 150, and offers examination and treatment space to accommodate 200,000 patient visits annually.
SERVICES
Buric was retained as the owner's scheduling representative while the project was under construction. Buric performed a detailed review of the prime contractor's schedule and made numerous recommendations to improve and formalize the schedule updating and reporting process. Following the schedule improvements phase, Buric performed detailed review and analysis of the project schedule, provided recommendations to the prime contractor, incorporated numerous design changes, and recommended owner-led initiatives to assure on time completion.
Buric developed and maintained a detailed hospital activation schedule, which included tracking hundreds of owner preparation activities, such as training, equipment procurement and installation, the hiring of personnel, and detailed department-specific efforts for moving into the new hospital. This schedule was coordinated with the construction schedule and work progressing on campus in support of the new facility.
Buric also coordinated the scheduling of several additional projects being constructed in support of the Cancer Center including construction of entrance canopies, a new parking garage, new main hospital entrance, and a Healing Garden adjacent to the Cancer Hospital.
