Twinsburg Family Health and Surgery Center
  • Client: Cleveland Clinic
  • Location: Twinsburg, Ohio
  • Approximate Project Value: $96 million

Project

Located halfway between Akron and Cleveland, the Twinsburg Family Health and Surgery Center is Cleveland Clinic's first family health center with a 24/7 emergency department and helipad. Another distinctive feature of this center is its specialty care – providing more than 35 types of specialty services ranging from allergy to vascular.

Cleveland Clinic has applied for LEED certification of this 190,000-square-foot facility because of environmental sustainability features such as low-flow plumbing, sensors to turn faucets and lights off when not in use, and Class I, 2 and 3 wetlands preservation.

SERVICES

Retained as the owner's scheduling and Building Information Modeling (BIM) representative, Buric developed the Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling specification requiring the general contractor to prepare a detailed, baseline construction schedule loaded for cost, manpower, and material quantity. Upon completion, Buric reviewed it for compliance, constructability, and accuracy, and used BIM technology to harvest quantities and resource-load the schedule. Using 4D-scheduling graphics, Buric provided visualization of the project's schedule status and critical areas.

Buric reviewed, analyzed and reported on the general contractor's monthly schedule updates, using cost and resource information for high-level, advanced trend reporting. In addition, Buric prepared 4D schedules and animated videos that linked the CPM schedule activities to BIM model components, which were used to plan and confirm look-ahead work.

The Twinsburg project experienced numerous owner-selected changes which, when incorporated into the schedule, affected the planned end dates. Buric Global identified and quantified the amount of time needed to incorporate the changes before the project was 40 percent complete, accurately forecasting a revised opening date – a date that held. Thanks to Buric, the project team was made aware of this issue more than a year in advance, giving them time to make necessary business decisions.
