University Of Cincinnati
Medical Science Building – Center for Academic Research Excellence

Client: Owner
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Approximate Project Value: $150 million

Project
Some of the most technically advanced laboratory and teaching space in the nation welcomes visitors to the University of Cincinnati’s medical campus. Comprehensive renovation was completed inside the existing Medical Sciences Building (MSB), and its west face was linked by a nine-story glass atrium to a new Center for Academic Research Excellence (CARE). MSB’s design involves updating research labs; improving educational, administrative and library spaces; and constructing the CARE addition, a 239,000 square-foot facility with six floors of state-of-the-art research laboratories.

Services
During the design phases, Buric worked directly with the multiple design team members and owner to coordinate, prepare and maintain a time-scaled design development CPM schedule that was monitored and updated to ensure the on-time completion of design for the follow-on bidding process.

After award of construction contracts, Buric was selected to prepare the cost and resource loaded baseline project schedule for the eight prime contractors. This 10,000 activity CPM schedule is updated monthly, and the updated progress is the basis for each prime contractor’s payment application. Additionally, the approved schedule is being used to determine schedule impact from design changes and change orders.
